Announcing HAW Working Groups
As we are moving into negotiating our contract, the bargaining committee needs your help.
Our bargaining committee aims to ensure that every voice is heard and represented effectively. By joining one of our working groups, you’ll have the opportunity to delve into specific issues, contribute your insights, and help shape our strategies moving forward. In terms of time commitment, these groups generally meet every two weeks. We encourage you to get as involved as your schedule allows–we need your input in whatever capacity works for you!
The following groups are currently active and need your help. :
Timecaps/Reappointments: Removing timecaps, extending appointment length, implementing longer appointments, etc.
Point of contact: Jules Riegel
Protections Against Abuse and Harassment: Creating protections and grievance procedures against discrimination, sexual misconduct, bullying, abuse, etc.
Point of contact: Adam Sychla
International Workers Rights: Protections for international workers, increased visa options, guaranteed time off for visa renewal, etc.
Point of contact: Rahel Kästli
Reach out to the point of contact to get involved or if you have any questions.
In the near future we will also be forming working groups for:
Medical, Dental, & Vision Assistance
Childcare/Family Benefits
Compensation & Cost-of-living Adjustment
If you are interested in these send an email to hawuawbc@gmail.com. We will add you to the list to contact when those get started. Or if there are any other areas you are passionate about changing for our unit, let us know!
Don’t forget to fill out the bargaining survey!
In solidarity,
Harvard Academic Workers Bargaining Committee
